Southern Virginia Institute of Religion
All are welcome here!
Our purpose is to help youth and young adults understand and rely on the teachings and Atonement of Jesus Christ, qualify for the blessings of the temple, and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in Heaven.
"Institute is not just a class, it’s an opportunity to learn more about the gospel and to be in tune with the spirit. I love the Institute so much. I go to at least three a day because I want to learn more. Plus, the professors are so fun! I encourage each and everyone that reads this to try Institute. It's such an awesome experience you don’t want to miss out on!"-Mynesha Burrell
"When we read or hear the scriptures, we are hearing the voice of God, and that is a special, sacred thing. That is a journey worth taking. Let an institute class help provide it." - Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

Then Sings My Soul: Latter-day Saint Gospel Principles through Music
Southern Virginia Institute welcomes Brother Jason Deere, founder and songwriter of the Nashville Tribute Band, to teach this inspiring Thursday evening class which will combine singing and study of hymns and contemporary church-oriented music with gospel discussions.
Thursday evenings, 7-8:30pm
"Institute Everywhere: Stand in Holy Places" is a non-traditional institute experience, with five sessions held every other Saturday beginning on September 11. Classes will be off-campus--on the river, on the mountain, at a service project, and at a temple. The "classes" will include gospel discussions based on scriptural and prophetic teachings related to the location and activity. Each session will be led by a different member of our institute faculty. SVU does not offer credit for this course.
INSTITUTE EVERYWHERE IS NOW FULL. Feel free to sign up if you wish to be placed on the wait list and we will notify you if an opening comes up. Thank you!
